Artist Spotlight: Tony Rolando

We’re always excited to work with accomplished artists such as Tony Rolando, who was one of our first Cassette Duplication Service clients. Tony recently released imagine a dolphin… through Bandcamp.

“What happens when you put water into your synthesizer? Perhaps with premonition, last August I became fixated on creating a library of water recordings which I could explore not only as sound but also compositional sources,” Tony writes. “Using a technique similar to Subotnick’s ‘ghost scores,’ the water sounds determined compositional possibilities within my modular synthesizer, but I remained the primary composer, guiding the music through these determinations.” All proceeds from the cassette benefit Lamplight AVL.

Of having the cassette duplicated at Citizen Vinyl, Tony says, “I don’t like weak sounding tapes. Citizen’s took extra steps to run my tapes nice and hot, and they ran off a test tape for me to confirm the level of heat. They have superb duplication decks, and you can hear it.”
